A tale of two handrolls and a rock band

Friday, July 22, 2022 (Portland, Maine) – So, an unexpected thing happened on Friday evening. My husbear’s sister got everyone tickets to see Bleachers at Thompson’s Point in Portland, Maine, so off we went for siblings date night. We arrived to the outdoor venue with security lines looking long but they briskly moved and we were inside and at the bar grabbing our first round of drinks in a matter of minutes.

When you walk around the perimeter of the venue, it’s lined with about 10 high-end gourmet food trucks from several of Portland’s best. We surveyed the options before committing to Mr. Tuna. They provided a variety of different types of rolls. We opted to get:
1 – Maine Lobster Roll
2 – Sweet Potato Roll
3 – Spicy Tuna Roll
The Maine Lobster Roll is pictured above. Each was small and easy to eat / handle while walking around. Overall though, the best flavor came from the Spicy Tuna Roll, with the Maine Lobster Roll coming in a far distant third – lacking flavor, especially at the price point. Our high hopes were quickly brought back to earth with the tastual lobstah disastah. But all of us mentioned that the Spicy Tuna Roll and Sweet Potato Rolls were a must-try if you find a Mr. Tuna food truck near you – so don’t give up hope up just quite yet! We tried several of the other options as well and each were worthy of a stop! The biggest surprise of the concert was the food! I highly recommend Thompson’s Point in Portland for a show!

Now, onto the concert before I close out – Bleachers give a fantastic show! It was the first time I’ve been able to see them live. Their level of musicianship is amazing and their sound is a mix of the Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band meets the modern alt / electronic CHVRCHES. I loved they used a variety of keyboards, as well as a variety of saxes, and a mix of guitars – mixing all sorts of sounds into a thick stack that blended well to all those listening. Catch their show if you get a chance while they are still touring!
