A Tale of Two Fruits (the mayo – not us!)

As you can see by the screenshots above, the Highroller Lobster Co in Portland isn’t playing around – you can have it your way, right away – ordering counter style or via a QR code at one of the outside tables in their nicely appointed parklet. Overall, the place was busy but you didn’t feel like it was crazy, as they had their system down well that resulted in very little to no wait for anyone coming in or out to the parklet.
Hubs decided to opt for the lobster roll with lime mayo while I was bold and wanted to try the roll with the charred pineapple mayo. Even though the husbear said that’d be a enough for him, I still went ahead and ordered the lobster corn dog and fries on the side – assuming we could try a bite or two just to explore the menu a bit.

I reallllllly wasn’t sure what to expect – as the photos with the mayo drizzle didn’t seem too terribly interesting to me but the place had several good write-ups in the research that I was doing and Maniacs know what they’re doing when it comes to the big red claws, so why not?
I have to say, the food came out fairly quickly, the staff were incredibly polite and helpful as I overheard the main host / server for the parklet patiently explaining the entire ordering process with QR codes and service two older folks from Vermont (as clearly stated by the Vermont license plate that was nearly tattooed into my face from the fine fella’s parallel parking job he was attempting directly across from us).
Overall, I’d have to say this place has everything you’d want / expect in a Portland Mainer experience – kind people, really good lobster, creative menu, side of hipster, and purposefully OUT of Moxie (ick).

Time for the overall rating – this place was a slam dunk 5 claws! The brioche bun, the lobster meat was clearly fresh with LOTS of unique options, and the slight use of fresh lettuce (which I usually hate) worked well to give it a bit of a crunch and kept the roll from falling apart when you ate it.
The fries and the lobster corn dog were also equally as tasty! Lots of flavor and perfect for sharing.
I’d for sure mark this one down for a quick lunch spot while you’re in Portland or if you want a VERY mellow / chill environment for dinner.
